Jail Quarantine Announcement
In response to some of the jail inmates coming back with positive Covid-19 tests we are quarantining the entire jail population effective today, October 14th. Even though these that have tested positive have been largely asymptomatic (not having bad symptoms like low oxygen levels etc.) we think it is prudent to quarantine to prevent the further spread.

You will still be able to do video visitation, phone calls, e-mails etc. with the folks in custody.

We have observed the mistruths that have been posted on social media the last couple of days, I can assure you that we are monitoring all the inmates in the facility and we are testing and following the state health departments guidelines and recommendations.

We provide medical care to the inmates that far exceeds what most of them receive while they are not in custody.
​
Please do not call and ask if your relative or loved one has tested positive, due to HIPPA regulations we cannot release this information to you. If the inmate tests positive they will be told the results of their test and they can share it with you if they wish.
​
Please do not believe everything you read on social media, some folks just like to spread rumors and panic when there is no need.
​
My jail staff and I took an oath, to protect and serve, this includes people who are incarcerated as well.
​
We take this oath very seriously and would never purposefully do anything to endanger the citizens of this county or their loved ones who might be in custody.

Bartow County Shop with a Hero
Sheriff Millsap and the Bartow County Sheriff's Office staff is honored to volunteer our time as part of the Shop With a Hero program. This program allows us to take approximately 300 less fortunate Bartow County and Cartersville City elementary school kids Christmas shopping. Children are chosen for the program by our local schools – we ask the schools to provide us with names of children who may be in need – we send out invitations for them to join us for Shop with a Hero. Started locally by Emerson Police Department to help Emerson children in 2008. 2017 marks the 6th year we consolidated with all area agencies and the 5th year we teamed up with EMS, FIRE, and MILITARY personnel.
Donation
With an annual goal of $50,000, money is raised all year.
​​Monetary donations are tax deductible donations and accepted at any law enforcement, fire, or EMS office in Bartow County.
Donors also can send checks to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office or stop by the Sheriff’s Office.
If need be, a deputy can meet with donors to pick up cash or checks.

​Per Child Budget
Each child receives $150 to spend on their shopping spree.
-
$100 - Must be used on clothing items (jeans, pants, shirts, jackets, shoes, socks, etc.)
-
$50 - Can be spent on whatever the child chooses.

Shop with a Hero Event

The kids will start with a warm breakfast while Santa and Mrs. Claus visit with them.
During a short program, we raffle off various items that are donated from businesses in the community.
Door prizes are given including several new bikes and big prizes.
After breakfast, the children and their parents are loaded onto school buses driven by city and county school bus drivers.
Everyone is transported with a full police, fire, and EMS escort including lights and sirens through town to Walmart
At Walmart, the children in the program are paired with a hero to shop – note that these are all volunteer personnel who are not paid to participate.
