Jail Quarantine Announcement
In response to some of the jail inmates coming back with positive Covid-19 tests we are quarantining the entire jail population effective today, October 14th. Even though these that have tested positive have been largely asymptomatic (not having bad symptoms like low oxygen levels etc.) we think it is prudent to quarantine to prevent the further spread.

You will still be able to do video visitation, phone calls, e-mails etc. with the folks in custody.

We have observed the mistruths that have been posted on social media the last couple of days, I can assure you that we are monitoring all the inmates in the facility and we are testing and following the state health departments guidelines and recommendations.

We provide medical care to the inmates that far exceeds what most of them receive while they are not in custody.
​
Please do not call and ask if your relative or loved one has tested positive, due to HIPPA regulations we cannot release this information to you. If the inmate tests positive they will be told the results of their test and they can share it with you if they wish.

Please do not believe everything you read on social media, some folks just like to spread rumors and panic when there is no need.
​
My jail staff and I took an oath, to protect and serve, this includes people who are incarcerated as well.

We take this oath very seriously and would never purposefully do anything to endanger the citizens of this county or their loved ones who might be in custody.

The mission of the Bartow County Sheriff's Office Jail Division is to operate the Bartow County Detention Center in accordance with all State and Federal laws providing a safe and healthful environment for inmates and staff; providing the inmates with the necessary medical and mental health services, religious services and other educational and drug resistance programs to aid their quality of life. The Jail Division must ensure the protection of the county's citizens by preventing escapes and the introduction of contraband into this facility. This Detention Center serves not only the Sheriff's Office but all other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The building is approximately 300,000 square feet.
In order to do this, the Detention Center operates 24 hours a day; seven days a week staffed with 68 line Correction Officers divided into 4 shifts. Two shifts work each day, each shift lasting 12 hours. Each shift is supervised by a Lieutenant, Sergeant, and Corporal. In addition to the line officers, the Jail Division includes the Medical Department staffed 24 hours a day, Inmate Meal Services, Maintenance Department, Inmate Records, Inmate Work Release/Work Detail Program, Warrant Division Records and Commissary. Each year over 7,000 inmates are processed through the Detention Center and over 600,000 meals are served to the inmates. Each year there are approximately 300,000 people who come through the Detention Center lobby. This includes visitors, attorneys, Probation officers, clergy and others.

Each quarter, the Detention Center is inspected by the Bartow County Grand Jury. Additionally, the U.S. Marshall's Office and the Georgia Fire Marshall inspect the Detention Center annually to ensure compliance with the latest Federal regulations and safety.
