Sex Offender Search

O.C.G.A. 42-1-12 (i)(3) states "the Georgia Bureau of Investigation or any sheriff maintaining records required under this code section shall release relevant information collected under this code section that is necessary to protect the public." However, due to the fact this information is continually changing, the Bartow County Sheriff's Office makes no expressed or implied guarantee concerning the accuracy of this information.

​Sex Offender Registration

​​All registrations, changes, or updates of required registration information must be done in person, by the offender.

​

  • Registration (by Appointment Only): Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

  • ​Updates/Changes (NO Appointment Needed): Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

If the offender is moving into Bartow from another county, state, etc., or if the offender is being released from state prison and will be living in Bartow County, that offender is required by O.C.G.A. 16-5-110 to remit $25.00 at the time of their registration. This fee is imposed to cover the cost of publication of notice of conviction/release from confinement in the legal organ (newspaper) of this county Sex Offender Websites.

Who is a Sex Offender?

A person who has been convicted of committing certain criminal offenses under OCGA 42-1-12 must register with the Sheriff of the county they live in, or move to, 72 hours prior of moving to that county. Any person released from prison, placement on probation, parole or supervised release or entry into the State of Georgia, has within 72 hours to report to the appropriate Sheriff’s Office of the county where they reside to register as a
Sex Offender.


The offender must be convicted of a crime that is, by its nature, a sexual offense, such as:
O.C.G.A. 16-6-1 Rape
O.C.G.A. 16-5-21 Aggravated Assault with the intent to rape
O.C.G.A. 16-6-2 Sodomy (against a minor); Aggravated Sodomy (against a minor or an adult)
O.C.G.A. 16-6-3 Statutory Rape (unless the age of the perpetrator is 18 years of age or younger)
O.C.G.A. 16-6-4 Child Molestation; Aggravated Child Molestation
O.C.G.A. 16-6-5 Enticing a child for indecent purposes
O.C.G.A. 16-6-22.2 Aggravated Sexual Battery
O.C.G.A. 16-6-5.1 Sexual Assault against persons in custody
O.C.G.A. 16-6-22 Incest
O.C.G.A. 16-12-100 Sexual Exploitation of Children
O.C.G.A. 16-12-100.1 Electronically furnishing obscene material to minors

In relation to crimes where the victim is a minor,

O.C.G.A. 42-1-12 includes the following offenses under (a)(4)(A):

  1. Kidnapping of a minor, except by a parent

  2. False imprisonment of a minor except by a parent

  3. Criminal sexual contact toward a minor

  4. Solicitation of a minor to engage in sexual contact

  5. Use of a minor in sexual performance

  6. Solicitation of a minor to practice prostitution

  7. Any conduct that by its nature is a sexual offense against a minor

 

In order for an offender to qualify for registration in the state of Georgia, the offender must either be released from prison or placed on probation, parole or supervised release after July 1, 1996. If an offender who is required to register in another state moves to Georgia, the offender is required to register in the state of Georgia.
