Jail Quarantine Announcement
In response to some of the jail inmates coming back with positive Covid-19 tests we are quarantining the entire jail population effective today, October 14th. Even though these that have tested positive have been largely asymptomatic (not having bad symptoms like low oxygen levels etc.) we think it is prudent to quarantine to prevent the further spread.

You will still be able to do video visitation, phone calls, e-mails etc. with the folks in custody.

We have observed the mistruths that have been posted on social media the last couple of days, I can assure you that we are monitoring all the inmates in the facility and we are testing and following the state health departments guidelines and recommendations.

We provide medical care to the inmates that far exceeds what most of them receive while they are not in custody.

Please do not call and ask if your relative or loved one has tested positive, due to HIPPA regulations we cannot release this information to you. If the inmate tests positive they will be told the results of their test and they can share it with you if they wish.

Please do not believe everything you read on social media, some folks just like to spread rumors and panic when there is no need.

My jail staff and I took an oath, to protect and serve, this includes people who are incarcerated as well.

We take this oath very seriously and would never purposefully do anything to endanger the citizens of this county or their loved ones who might be in custody.
Your Sheriff, Clark Millsap

Sgt. Marc Barrere (Ext. 6022)

The D.A.R.E. program is changing to meet challenges faced by youth.
The Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D. A .R. E.) Program in the city and county school system is changing and evolving to meet the challenges faced by today's youth. In addition to the current curriculum, the following optional classes can now be taught in the classroom: Bullying, Prescription Drugs (RX) and Over the Counter Drugs (OTC) abuse.
Bartow County Sheriff's Office along with the Bartow County School System has been involved with the D.A.R.E Program since 1992.
Currently, twelve (12) county schools, one (1) city school, and one (1) private school are receiving the services of the Bartow County D.A.R.E Program.
Beginning with the 2012 school year D.A.R.E. will be taught in the middle school.
D. A. R. E provides students with the skills necessary to recognize and resist pressures to experiment with drugs and to avoid gangs and violence. Lessons emphasize self-esteem, decision-making, interpersonal communications skills, the consequences of drug abuse, conflict resolution and positive alternatives to substance abuse.
The most important facets of D.A.R.E. are the use of specially trained officers to deliver the curriculum within the schools. Officers are accepted as authorities on drug abuse, as they deal with drug abuse and its consequences on a daily basis.
Surveys of D.A.R.E graduates show students that completing the program demonstrate increased knowledge of and resistance to drugs and alcohol, improved attitudes towards school, better grades, and lower levels of truancy and vandalism.
D.A.R.E because it works.
D.A.R.E because we care.
